BLOOMSBURG — Jack Monahon, General Manager of Operations for Caithness Energy and asset manager of the Moxie Freedom Generating Station in Salem Township, Luzerne County, recently visited with fourth-grade students at Central Columbia Elementary School. The students are learning about electricity and energy, and Jack shared a presentation with them about the power plant.

“I appreciate the opportunity to connect with local students and share a real-world example of the way we use science to power our everyday lives. It is great to be out in the community,” Jack said.

Caithness Energy LLC partnered with Moxie Energy LLC to develop the generating station, an approximately 1,050-megawatt natural gas-fired greenfield power project. The Freedom Generating Station transitioned to commercial operation in September 2018 and can provide enough power to supply approximately 900,000 homes throughout the region.
