Caithness Freedom donates $5G so far this year

SALEM TOWNSHIP — The Caithness Freedom Generating Station team continued its commitment to being a valued community partner by contributing $5,000 to local organizations and community initiatives in 2023 to date.

“There are countless organizations and initiatives in northeast Pennsylvania that are tackling big problems and creating opportunities for the people who call this area home. We are proud to step up and provide financial support to causes that are important to our team at the Freedom Generating Station,” said Ross D. Ain, president of Caithness Energy, LLC.

To date in 2023, the Caithness team has contributed donations to Central Columbia Little League, Berwick YMCA, Stuart Tank Memorial and the Raise the Region fundraising effort. More community-giving contributions will be announced later in the year, including the Caithness team’s annual donation to the Salem Township Volunteer Fire Company.

In 2022, Caithness contributed more than $25,000 to charitable organizations and causes, adding to its more than $800,000 designated for completed projects and future commitments in Salem Township and the surrounding area.

Caithness Energy LLC partnered with Moxie Energy LLC to develop the Freedom generating project, an approximately 1,050-megawatt, natural gas-fired power project in Salem Township. The generating station began commercial operation in 2018 and provides enough power to supply approximately 900,000 homes throughout the region.

Using state-of-the-art technology, the plant is the highest-efficiency user of natural gas in the region.
