NEW YORK — May 23, 2012 — Continuing its initiative of encouraging the study of science and technology among area high school students, Caithness Long Island, LLC recently presented Longwood High School's Robotics Team with a check for $1000. The award was made in support of Longwood's participation in US FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a national robotics competition held in St. Louis in April. Longwood also competed at the Long Island Regional FIRST Robotics Competition earlier in the year at Hofstra University where they captured the Chairman's Award.
New York State Assemblyman Dean Murray was on hand to celebrate Longwood's successes and join as Caithness Long Island, LLC President Ross D. Ain presented the check and offered his congratulations to the team and their advisors on their recent accomplishments.
"Caithness is proud of the members of the Longwood High School Robotics Team for showing off their talents and creativity on a national stage before a group of professors, scientists and students from all over the country," said Mr. Ain. "We are happy to provide financial support as a way to encourage studies in science and technology, and we wish the team all the best in their future endeavors."
